For The Love of a Student: A Back-to-School Series

Over the coming weeks, as children across the country go back to school, child sex trafficking survivors will share their stories of the teachers who made a difference in their lives.

If you work in a school system, you have the ability to be a hero for children like these survivors. A 2018 study found that an estimated 300,000 American children are victims of sex trafficking. These children may be returning to your very classroom this fall.

One survivor, Sarah, had this to say about an adult that made a difference in her life:

"You never forget the first person who saw you, like really saw you. If you ask a sex trafficking survivor who the first person who saw them was, most of them will be able to tell you the story off the top of their head. We remember."

Education professionals could be that first person to see a child victim sitting in their classroom.
